God's gopher and his cat

It has been a long-standing fact of my life that I have always been about five years behind whatever happens to be fashionable at the time. You shouldn't infer passive aggression or laziness on my part. Rather, it's simply one more symptom of being a country boy at heart.

When one is raised in the woods of Screven County, Georgia, there isn't much room for fashion -- or for being fashionable. And so -- several eons after everybody else in the world has created a blog and promptly abandoned it -- here I be.

I sit here at home in North Augusta, SC -- a minister and his cat. (The cat is a male short-hair named Postal Cat -- a classic Halloween cat, blacker than midnight in a cypress swamp.)

We'll see if anything comes of this blogging thang. Somehow, I suspect it's unlikely. But one never knows.
